A Message from Pastor Greg - 03/21/2020

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ...and good evening!

On March 18, the Ohio Valley's Presbytery Council met via video-conference to address the evolving COVID-19 situation. It was the unanimous opinion of the Council to recommend that sessions and congregations follow the guidelines of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that all in-person worship and meetings of ten or more people be cancelled through May 10, 2020 (eight weeks from the beginning of the CDC guidelines).  Out of an abundance of caution, we also recommend that congregations of fewer that ten worshippers adopt the same practice, as many of our folks are in a higher-risk category and should be staying home as much as possible.

As you now know, Charlestown Community Presbyterian has decided to follow the Council's advice and move worship services online at least through May 10, 2020. This decision was not arrived at lightly, and I'd like to thank our Session for making the decision to keep our congregation and our community a little safer during these trying times.

In response to this new guidance, we will be posting worship materials online at the Church's FaceBook page and at my blog, Nothing But the Truth at http://nothingbutthetruth40.blogspot.com/ for each Sunday service. (Last week's message "FEAR NOT" is posted there as well.) During the next weeks, we may experiment with video links and music links and live streaming through FaceBook Live. You might even see some mid-week thoughts, encouragement, and other study resources.

This will be a difficult time, given the nature of national emergency declaration and higher number of confirmed cases as more testing for the coronavirus increases. However, let us do our part during this time with the practice of social distancing and semi-quarantine, only going out when we need to go out. But let us also be sure to check in with our families, friends, and neighbors whom we might assist and care for with just a simple phone call. But above all, let us rest in the comfort and assurance that, no matter where we are, God is with us and will be always!

Grace and peace to you all,
Pastor Greg
